The former Grêmio midfielder would welcome a move back to Brazil.
The Shakhtar Donetsk player told GloboEsporte.com that his agent, Jorge Machado, and the club president, Alexandre Kalil, have been discussing the move.
“Kalil contacted my agent. It is he who is taking care of these things. There is interest from Atlético-MG in my transfer, but beyond that I do not know anything.
“Until now I have a contract with Shakhtar. I’m not happy, since I’m not playing there. I do not know how the situation would be for my transfer, but I want to return to play.
“I certainly would have the desire to play at Atlético. It’s a great team. They showed it last year and have been showing it until today. They have some great professionals and some I have worked with, some I have had the opportunity to play against. Atlético is a club that deserves respect for where it is going,” Fernando said.
