Brazilian legend Ronaldo believes despite Italy being put in one of the hardest groups, they still have enough quality to win Group D.

The former Internazionale and AC Milan forward spoke to Gazetta dello Sport and also praised Italy head coach Cesare Prandelli.

Football Italia quoted the former international hotshot, and on the Azzurri’s chances, Ronaldo said: “It’s true that it is one of the hardest groups, if not the hardest.

“But for me, they can win it. And then at that point, anything can happen.

“In the tradition of the World Cup, Italy have always been solid with defensive security and great tactical intelligence. At this tournament that could serve them very well.”

Ronaldo went on to discuss Prandelli and former Manchester City forward Mario Balotelli.

The 37-year-old said: “Prandelli is going to be important. He has something of the Gigi Simoni to him, when it comes to relationship he has with his players.

“And he also reminds me of Luiz Felipe Scolari – a great tactician.

“This is Mario’s big chance. Brazil is waiting for him – we love special players and he is one of them.”
