Diego Costa has completely denied that Brazil head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari made an approach for the striker to represent Brazil at this summer’s World Cup, saying that there was only one coah interested in his international career.

Costa, who is on the verge of a move to Chelsea from La Liga winners Atletico Madrid, said: “Scolari never called me by telephone. The only coach I spoke with was Del Bosque (of Spain) who showed interest in me, invited me for a meal and made me realise that I was in his plans.”

“I am Brazilian and that is not going to change but I want to win the World Cup with Spain.”

Costa’s 36 goals for Atletico this season would have been the perfect fit for Scolari’s Brazil, who are relying on the often inconsistent Jo as back-up to first-choice front man Fred.
