Brazil laboured to a 1-0 victory over Serbia in their final World Cup warm-up game in Sao Paulo, striker Fred notching the only goal of the game after 58 minutes.

The home support booed their side off the pitch after a dire first period, with little in the way of entertainment and even less in terms of goalscoring opportunities. A poor pitch at the Morumbi stadium didn’t help matters and indeed there were a few moments when players rolled ankles and the like.

Brazil eventually went ahead when Fluminense forward Fred instinctively finished from less than ten yards out but there was certainly a case for stating that the Serbians deserved something out of the game.

Luiz Felipe Scolari’s men now turn their attentions to Thursday evening, when they kick off the World Cup against Croatia in Sao Paulo, at the the Arena Corinthians.
