The Fluminense forward has experienced international success in South America in the past and is preparing for more in Brazil this summer.
Fred has come along way since getting the boot from América de São José do Rio Preto as a young man.
He won the 2007 Copa America in Venezuela and was champion and joint-top scorer in the Confederations Cup at home last year.
In an interview with GloboEsporte.com, Fred confirmed that he is ready to be the hero again in the coming weeks.
“I am very prepared to score the goals and make all my people celebrate,” he said.
