Real Madrid defender Marcelo admitted he and his team mates were feeling “huge joy” after the Champions League final triumph.

For a long time it seemed as though Atlético Madrid would be the toast of Madrid, but Los Blancos came back and finally achieved la decima to the delight of their fans.

Speaking after the game, the Brazilian revealed his delight at the win. Inside Spanish Football quoted Marcelo, who scored the third in Madrid’s 4-1 win.

He said: “It’s a huge joy we’ve been waiting for too long to achieve, but we know how hard we’ve always fought, how much we’ve sacrificed and we’ve given everything we’ve got out there on the pitch, to bring joy to our fans.”

Atlético were winning up until second half injury time before Sergio Ramos equalised and Marcelo expressed his happiness for the fans once more.

“Everyone on the bench, on the pitch, or in the stands… this is a beautiful moment for us all,” Marcelo added.

“At long last we’re going to Cibeles with ‘La Décima’. I’m really happy for that, speechless.

“You can see what this means on the faces of everyone, the fans, the huge joy there is. We’re all going to enjoy this together and we’ve deserved it.”
