The former Udinese midfielder has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Mineiro club, according to GloboEsporte.com.
Maicosuel started his career with Guarani before spells at Paraná, Atlético’s rivals Cruzeiro, and Palmeiras. He moved to Europe to play with Hoffenheim in Germany. His last stint in Brazil was with Botafogo between 2009 and 2012.
The player’s agent, Lê, said: "He has already signed a pre-contract of intention with Atlético-MG, it was a guarantee requested by Atlético. On Friday I will talk to him, but it [the deal] is already well underway."
Atlético, however, have not confirmed the negotiations.
