Paulo Henrique Ganso scored both goals as Sao Paulo beat Flamengo at the Maracana last night, the prodigious talent finally looking like he has settled into an environment whereby his mind is as solid as his ability.

The 24 year-old moved to Tricolor in 2012 but has struggled to make an impact after a move from from Santos as his World Cup ambitions have fallen by the wayside.

However, an improved start to the 2014 campaign has seen Ganso at the heart of an unbeaten five game run, topped off by his two goals yesterday.

Sao Paulo took the lead after 23 minutes when Ganso’s run was spotted by Osvaldo and the eight-time capped midfielder slotted past Felipe in the Flamengo goals for the game’s opener.

The gloss was put on Sao Paulo’s performance when ‘Goose’ finished from close range at the second attempt in stoppage time.

The result leaves the visitors only two points off the top of the Serie A table, while Flamengo are languishing in 16th place with the sack apparently looming over head coach Ney Franco.
