Brazil captain Thiago Silva believes Italy could reach the final of the 2014 World Cup.

The Paris-Saint Germain skipper was speaking to Gazetta dello Sport and added that he believes Mario Balotelli is an “incredible striker”.

Football Italia quoted the 29-year-old who praised two of his PSG team mates. Silva firstly said: “Mario Balotelli is an incredible striker and I say this as a defender, but he must pay more attention to his life away from the field.

“He has the right personality to make a difference at the World Cup with Italy.

“Marco Verratti? It would be better for us if Cesare Prandelli doesn’t call him, but joking aside with him alongside the duo of Andrea Pirlo and Thiago Motta, Italy could reach the final.”

The PSG defender was also asked to discuss the Financial Fair Play rules, with UEFA expected to fine his team for disregarding FFP.

Silva believes the system is strange, he added: “It is not for me to say whether the sanctions on Financial Fair Play for Paris Saint-Germain are right or not, but the President has said that he will not change anything.

“To me, the system seems strange, if one has to pay then you have to pay even if it is then up to us to work hard to help the club.

“My future? PSG are expected to grow, I’m not moving from here.”
