Former Roma and Juventus midfielder Emerson has talked about why he picked the Old Lady over other clubs back in 2004 when he made his controversial switch from Rome to Turin.

The retired Brazilian international has been speakin to Il Messaggero recently about that transfer and revealed why he moved to Turin.

“Why Juventus? To me it was the same,” Football Italia quoted Emerson as saying.

“Juventus, Inter, Milan or Real Madrid, all equal. If I had gone anywhere else people would not have understood anyway – the same thing happened to Samuel and Cafu.”

Emerson went on to state that he could have made a much worse choice that would have angered Roma fans even more.

The Brazilian finally insisted he was not a traitor to i Giallorossi.

He said: “And in any case, I had not chosen Lazio. I was not a traitor. For four years I did my job and did it well.

“A traitor is someone who earns a good living, does nothing for the team and then he goes.”
