Barcelonas vice-president Carles Villarubi has told the media that the club had not budgeted for buying the Brazilian last year.

The Catalans paid an estimated €87.2 million for Neymar to ensure that their La Liga rivals, Real Madrid, did not beat them to the former Santos strikers signature.

Villarrubi said: "The club signed a pre-agreement for Neymar to join the following season [2014-15].

“Pressure from another club led us to sign him a year earlier. This fact has affected the club"s financial stability."
