The second round of the Brasileirão saw two of Brazil’s biggest sides come head to head as Corinthians claimed their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Flamengo on Sunday.

Guilherme opened the scoring after nine minutes before Gilberto Gil finished the job 10 minutes from time.

Cruzeiro had the chance to move level with Fluminense at the top of the early standings but were held in a 1-1 draw as Antonio Carlos’ stoppage-time goal for São Paulo cancelled out Julio Baptista’s 50th minute opener.

Elsewhere, Botafogo also came back from 2-0 down to earn a point at home to Internacional. Rafael Moura’s first-half brace put the visitors in control but Marcio De Albuquerque’s 64th minute strike was soon followed up by Pablo Zeballos to level it.

Bahia helped themselves to a 2-0 away win over Figueirense, while Criciuma were undone an 82nd minute goal as they lost 1-0 at Goias. The results mean that Figueirense and Criciuma are yet to get off the mark this year.
