The Spaniard sadly passed away at the age of 45 on Friday and the Brazilian left-back said that the former Barcelona coach had an important impact on his career.
According to Adriano, Tito Vilanova was much more than just a football coach.
“It’s hard to know what to say at a time like this,” said the 29-year-old.
“I didn’t expect to hear this news today and it has destroyed me inside. Tito will be sorely missed as both a person and a professional.”
“He was much more than a coach and was a teacher for me and my team-mates. He was a great example.”
Under the guidance of Vilanova, Adriano enjoyed one of the most successful spells of his career and even improvised at centre-back during the Spaniard’s reign.
