Chelsea midfielder Ramires has been handed a four match by the Football Association.

The 27 year-old was involved in an altercation with Sebastian Larsson during Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Sunderland at the weekend and has been retrospectively punished for his actions, as the accident was initially missed by referee Mike Dean.

“Chelsea midfielder Ramires has accepted a charge of violent conduct following an off-the-ball incident that was not seen by the match officials but caught on video,” read an FA statement, as reported by Sky Sports.

“The incident occurred during Chelsea’s Premier League fixture against Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on Saturday 19 April.

“Ramires receives a four match ban which will start with immediate effect.”

The first match Ramires will miss is Sunday’s trip to Anfield to face Liverpool,
