It seems Bayern Munich defender Dante is just as wise to Manchester United’s tricks as manager Pep Guardiola as he also expects England international Wayne Rooney to start this evening’s Champions League tie.

Guardiola bet a ‘big glass of beer’ with a journalist in his press conference this week that Rooney would start this evening’s quarter-final second leg at the Allianz Arena despite apparently being a doubt with a toe injury.

Dante is also under the same notion as his manager and has been discussing the quality of the Man United forward to IOL.co.za.

The Brazilian central defender missed the first leg at Old Trafford but knows all about Rooney after facing him last June during a friendly between his country and England.

Rooney scored a wonderful goal at the Maracanã last year and Dante knows his threat, he said: “I played against him for Brazil. He’s a world class striker.

“He reads the game well, he’s lightning fast over the first few yards and he has a brilliant shot.”

Dante will hope to snuff out the threat of Rooney and helped his side reach the semi-finals as they continue their quest to retain their European crown.
