Michel Bastos continued his fine form for Roma as he netted the vitl second goal in his team’s 2-0 Sunday victory away at Sassuolo in Serie A.

Bastos, who is on loan at the Italian side from Middle Eastern outfit Al Ain, linked up with former boss Rudi Garcia in January and has rediscovered the qualities that at one time made him one of Europe’s hottest attacking left backs, in turn earning him ten caps for Brazil.

After Mattia Destro had given Roma the lead against relegation-threatened Sassuolo, Bastos’ injury time clincher came after he had been brought on for Gervinho in the 85th minute.

The 30 year-old is at Roma until the summer and has a €3.5 million deal in place should the Italians want to keep him on.

Roma, whose title hopes have long faded, are intent on securing a runners-up spot and Champions League football for next term.
