Réver has not given up hope of making Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad despite being currently ruled out through an ankle injury.

The Atlético Mineiro captain has spoken about his ambition of representing his country in a home World Cup and believes he has shown the Brazil manager what he is capable of beforehand.

Réver told Lancenet about his hopes, he said: “I do not believe that this injury may harm any possible call up because Scolari will not make new tests.

“I’ve been in the winning Confederations Cup squad last year and I showed him on a day-to-day basis that I can help.”

The 29-year-old also believes his form with club side Atlético previously has show his qualities. Once he returns from injury he is confident of securing a place.

“I’ve shown my football. I am recovering ahead of schedule, with more than two months to go before the World Cup,” revealed Réver.

“I respect the other centre backs that are being tipped to be included but I’m optimistic. It would be a personal accomplishment to be with the Brazil team in the World Cup, especially in our country.”
