Atlético Mineiro winger Fernandinho admits he is anxious to end his scoring drought with goes all the way back to November last year.

Fernandinho replaced young idol Bernard when he moved to Shakhtar Donetsk and the 28-year-old impressed by scoring seven times and assisting six goals.

However, he hasn’t scored since November 23rd and has revealed it is playing on his mind now.

Fernandinho told Lancenet: “I miss scoring goals. It affects me a lot. There is anxiety to make it happen.

“It not a good thing and it actually hinders me a bit but it happens with every human being.

“Unfortunately I am not scoring but my other companions are and our staff is well.”

Some have suggested that Fernandinho’s lack of goals are due to Paul Autori, Atlético’s current head coach, playing the winger in a different role compared to previous boss Cuca.

The midfielder rejects these claims and has confidence that the goals will return to his game.

“A coaching change has nothing to do with my lack of goals,” insisted Fernandinho.

“Instead like Cuca, Paul supports me, gives me confidence and this tells me he is a good person, a great coach and has plenty of capacity.

“There are times when the ball does not come to me. It is natural. I hope this spell passes quickly. I have dedicated myself to work hard.

“I’m helping the team and I believe the goals will come naturally.”
