Internazionale wing-back Jonathan was delighted with Saturday’s 2-0 win against Hellas Verona.

The 28 year-old netted the second, as Walter Mazzarri’s side secured three points and leapfrogged Fiorentina into 4th.

Jonathan recognised the importance of beating Verona, who are now seven points adrift of Inter, as is now hoping that Fiorentina slip up against Chievo on Sunday.

“It’s a very important victory, because it was a head-to-head for European places and now we have a bigger advantage over them,” he said, as reported by Football Italia.

“We are very happy with the way things are going and tomorrow we’ll cheer on Fiorentina’s opponents. Watch out, though, as Parma are also in the running.

“Was it my best performance for Inter? No, I don’t think so. Walter Mazzarri’s secret is hard work, as he told us that sooner or later bad luck eventually passes. Now we’ll try to go as far as possible.”
