Thiago Silva believes Paris Saint-Germain will face Barcelona in the quarter-finals of the Champions League again after they secured their passage into the next round with a 6-1 aggregate win over Bayern Leverkusen.

The PSG and Brazil captain believes the outcome would be different this time around after the Catalan club knocked out Silva’s team last season.

Silva said in L’Equipe: “I have the feeling we will meet Barcelona again in the quarter-finals, but I hope the outcome will be different. I believe we are playing better than last term.”

The 29-year-old praised his team’s performance against the German team and  believes they are showing why they are now regarded as one of the best team in Europe.

PSG are viewed as outsiders for the Champions League after some impressive performances this season including the away win against Leverkusen.

“The game against Leverkusen was tough but we managed to keep the match under control,” Silva said.

“We are showing that we have a place among Europe’s top teams.

“We have great players, which allows us to make the difference, but all the clubs that will be in the quarter-finals will be great teams, stronger than Leverkusen.”
