Brazilian Neto conceded after just three minutes in the Europa League against Juventus yesterday but hailed Fiorentina’s character after they earned an excellent away draw.

The goalkeeper spoke to Sky Sports Italia after the game and revealed his delight at the result.

He said: “I am happy with the character we showed and the way we played after conceding so early.

“We did well not to let our heads drop, as the team proved it had confidence in its own qualities.”

“The important thing is that I contributed to a good result.”

The 24-year-old talked about how his family helped him during tough early periods in Florence.

Neto was also asked about his aspirations of making Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad, unsurprisingly he admitted it would be tough.

“I think it’ll be very difficult, knowing the way things work in Brazil,” conceded Neto.

“They won the Confederations Cup a few months ago and it’ll be tough to see many changes in that squad. However, I’ll keep working and am ready in case I am called.

“Personally I always had faith in my talent and knew that I could give this team a lot. My family helped me, as they were very supportive in the difficult moments.”
