The Brazilian Football Confederation have announced they will donate roughly £120,000 of the income they receive from Wednesday’s friendly match against South Africa to the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

The game between South Africa and Brazil will have several tributes for the former president of South Africa according to Terra.

South Africa will enter the field with uniform showing the number 46664, in reference to the membership number which Mandela was given when he served in prison.

The generous donation from the CBF is the second time they have donated over the last year, although the previous time caused controversy.

The family of Kevin Sword were promised the total income of the match between Brazil and Bolivia after the young teenager was killed by a flare thrown from Corinthians fans in the Copa Libertadores last year.

The family only received a small part of the income though and the Brazilian Confederation were heavily criticised.

Hopefully this time no such controversy comes from the CBF’s donation.
