Flamengo’s Hernane admitted he was overwhelmed with the response from the crowd during his team’s Copa Libertadores win over Emelec in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Hernane has been linked with a move to China recently and has struggled in front of goal for Mengão in 2014.

However, he was handed the responsibility to lead the line in the Libertadores and repaid the faith by helping his side earn a first win in this year’s competition by scoring the second in their 3-1 victory.

Flamengo fans chanted his name afterwards and Hernane told Lancenet.com he was moved. He remained coy on a move away from the Rio de Janeiro club though.

“I am moved to hear the crowd screaming, begging me to stay,” said the 27-year-old.

“I do not know if I am staying or if I will. I really do not know. I am very happy here in Flamengo.

“I tried not to get involved in this negotiation. I left it with Flamengo and my manager, who are taking care of this matter. Whatever happens, I’m happy at Flamengo.”

Shanghai Shenhua are interesting in signing the Brazilian forward and as Flamengo own 50% of his economic rights they could receive approximately €3 million from the deal.
