Fluminense’s under-23 team lost out to the New York Red Bulls in Florida to end their North American tour both winless and without troubling the scorers.

Two previous losses were incurred against Montreal Impact (1-0) and Sporting Kansas City (3-0) and hopes were high that Flu could salvage some pride in their final game. They did hold firm until the 74th minute, when New York’s Ruben Bover bagged a free kick from outside the box in what would prove to be the game’s solitary goal.

The American side boast a host of well-known names in their ranks, including Bradley wright-Phillips, ex-Everton midfielder Tim Cahill and world-renowned Champions League winner Thierry Henry.
