Brazilian national champions Cruzeiro displayed the sort of form that brought them their third Campeonato in 2013 with a Copa Libertadores thumping of Universidad Chile on Wednesday night.

A Raposa were in irresistable mood to brush aside their continental opponents 5-1 in Belo Horizonte and make a bigger presence of themselves after an opening day reverse. They are seeking a third Libertadores and now top Group 5 on goal difference.

The star of the show was undoubtedly Ricardo Goulart after helping himself to a hat trick; the 33 year-old striker netted after 34, 43 and 85 minutes. Dagoberto and substitute Willian completed the rout against the Chilean champions in a game where the hosts racked up an impressive 12 shots at goal.

Cruzeiro’s next fixture is against Minas in the Mineiro state championship on Saturday March 1.
