Colourful Brazilian Edmundo has told reporters that it is his dream to score a goal for Palmeiras when their new stadium opens its doors for a first competitive game later this year- even though the enigmatic former international is now 42 years of age.

The Allianz Park in Sao Paulo has been built to home the most successful Brazilian domestic side and Edmundo, who scored 99 goals for the club, says that he would love nothing more than having the chance to bag a 100th goal for his former side in their centenary year.

“If I happen to work in a commemorative match, I’ll be there. It would be fantastic to wear the shirt of Palmeiras againand try to find the net,” Edmundo told Palm magazine.

The fiery striker never won a great deal in his career despite being thought of as a quality talent, although he did win three Brazilan Campeonatos between 1993 and 1997.
