Lionel Messi is even better than Neymar imagined the Brazilian striker has admitted in a recent interview with England newspaper Daily Mail.
Ahead of tonight’s Champions League last 16 tie with Premier League side Manchester City Neymar said you simply can’t stop his Argentine team mate when he is on top form.
Neymar did acknowledge the toughness of Barça’s task tonight but hopes to return home with a good result.
“Messi is the best player in the world for me. I thought that when I joined – and now I believe it even more,” revealed Neymar.
“You can make a plan to stop him – but when he plays at his top level – then it is not possible to stop him.
“It is a dream to win it – but we need to get past the very tough test we know Manchester City will give us – and that starts with getting a good result to take back to Barcelona.”
When Neymar was at Santos it was alleged that Man City were among the numerous teams monitoring him.
However he admits that he knew it was crucial for his development that he joined the right team from Santos, which was Barcelona and not the Premier League club.
The 22-year-old revealed: “I could have left Brazil earlier than I did – but I knew for my development it was about joining the right team at the right time.”
