A dog was the star of the show in Sunday’s derby match in Pará and has received praise for his speed, agility and courage.

Towards the end of the game in the Paraense state championship the dog ran on to the pitch and assisted the Paysandu defence in repelling a Remo attack.

Many supporters complained whilst others broke down in fits of laughter when the dog tackled Remo midfielder Ratinho.

Remo, of course, were not pleased and one of the players even protested to the dog.

The game was briefly stopped whilst the dog was led off the field.

“It’s really bad that this was allowed to happen. In a stadium of this size and with all the supporters it holds, there should be a better structure in place to avoid this,” complained Ratinho.

With no goals scored in the game, partly due to the intervention of the dog, the championship will be decided next Sunday.
