Manchester City and Brazil midfielder Fernandinho has spoken of his will to try and replicate the national party that followed their 1994 World Cup triumph in the USA, which the player syas is one of his abiding early memories of football.

In an interview with Globo, Fernandinho also expressed his hunger to fulfill his potential after receiving a call up for the first time by coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.

“I’m hoping to play my role, show that I am able to play football and that I can be part of the group to compete at a home World Cup.”

“I have fresh in my mind, even today, the 1994 World Cup, hence the immense expectations.”

Impressive at City since a £30 million move from Shakhtar Donetsk of the Ukraine in 2013, Fernandinho has a mere five caps for Brazil thus far.
