On Tuesday, Luiz Felipe Scolari, coach of the Brazilian national team, announced his squad for a friendly against South Africa on March 5.

Among the group are Bayern Munich’s Dante and Rafinha.

It was the first time that the right-back Rafinha has been called-up by Scolari.

“Of course I’m really happy to have been called up to the Brazilian national team. The last time I received a call-up was five years ago. It’s always an honour to represent your country and I’m going to try my best to help my teammates in this game against South Africa. Everybody who’s called-up in this squad will be doing their best to make the final squad for the World Cup. With me it’s no different. I want to show that I deserve my place and the good work I’m doing for Bayern Munich could help the national team as well.”

Centre-back Dante is a more established feature of the Seleção.

“I’m really pleased to be winning the confidence of people. It’s always an honour to wear the national shirt and this game against South Africa is really important in our World Cup preparation. It’s also great for my club teammate, Rafinha. He’s been having a really great season and can do a job for the Seleção as well.”
