Pelé is the latest high profile name to give his views on the controversial Neymar transfer to Barcelona, which has resulted in Sandro Rosell resigning from his presidency.

Neymar’s transfer to the Catalan club has been well publicized recently and speaking to ESPN the Brazil legend revealed his distain for agents and businessman involved in transfers.

Esporte Terra quoted Pelé, who said: “It’s unfortunate, no doubt it is a sad thing. We were talking to, making a comparison with the beginning of my career, I had proposals to go to any team in Europe. I was in Santos and at the time it was different.

“Entrepreneurs now have a big say and when it picks players, it is not thinking of the club, he is thinking of the bill that he gets. That’s the sad thing about football today.”

The former national team legend talked about how players are moved on now even when they don’t want to.

This is something that Pelé vigorously disagrees with.

“Before the player wanted to stay at the team of his heart for the rest of life, not now,” said the three-time World Cup winner.

“They plays a year or two and then the entrepreneur has put them to another team.”
