Brazilian born striker Diego Costa is on the verge of a move to English Premier outfit Chelsea in the same week they sold midfielder Juan Mata to Manchster United for over £37 million.

According to reports in the English media, Costa’s €32 million buy-out clause will be met by Jose Mourinho’s side and the Atletico Madrid man will move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The 25 year-old has been at the centre of an eligibility row in recent months after he rejected advances to play for Brazil at this year’s World Cup in favour of representing Spain, the country to whom he feels more of an affiliation.

The very fact that Costa’s agent, Francois Gallardo, has stated that “Atletico knows it’s impossible to hold onto him” suggests that a move away from the Spanish capital will happen in a matter of time.

Enjoying the most fruitful season of his career to date, Diego Costa has bagged 19 goals already this term as Atletico aim to compete with Real and Barcelona for the La Liga title.
