The Brazilian full-back is to join Premier League strugglers Cardiff City as he looks to get more first-team football.
The 23-year-old Brazil international has scored three times in 56 appearances since joining United from Fluminese in July 2008 but has made only one league appearance since ending an impressive loan spell at QPR last May.
He is due to have a medical at Cardiff on Sunday and will strengthen the team managed by former United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Bluebirds currently sit bottom of the table, one point from safety.
