Bayern Munich central defender Dante may not leave the club in the immediate future, but it has widely been acknowledged that other clubs, chiefly Manchester United, would be very interested in a transfer should the possibility arise.

United are enduring one of the more tricky seasons in their recent history, with failure to qualify for next year’s Champions League now more probable than possible.

However, reports on esporte.com have suggested that Dante could even use interest from United to engineer a healthier contract either at Bayern or elsewhere- much like Ronaldinho did when moving from PSG to Barcelona in 2003.

For now though, Dante’s agent Marcus Marin insists that staying at the Europeans is the priority for his client: “No agreement with Manchester exists. Currently we are in negociations for the renewal of the contact with Bayern and Dante’s first choice is to stay in Germany.”

The defender, who has ten caps for Brazil and is expected to play a part at this summer’s World Cup, joined Bayern from Monchengladbach in 2012 and was part of the historic treble-winning side from 2013.
