Esporte UOL believe that São Paulo are negotiating with Italian side Inter Milan over the transfer of Álvaro Pereira.

The Uruguayan would move to São Paulo on a 12-month loan deal according to these reports and apparently negotiations are at an advanced stage.

The 28-year-old is able to play various position but favours left-back and with Tricolor struggling in that department this move would make sense to both parties.

The Uruguayan played in the last World Cup, where his country finished 4th, and will look to secure a move away from Italy to ensure he is picked for this tournament as he has fallen down the pecking order at Internazionale.

Towards the end of December Pereira was linked with a move to English Premier League side Swansea City.

Their manager Michael Laudrup rejected that talk though and it seems the experienced international could move to Brazil.

It would be a huge coup for São Paulo if they could bring in Pereira. It wouldn’t be a guaranteed success but it would significantly strengthen their squad ahead of the 2014 season.
