Brazil midfielder Sandro has returned to training with his English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, the clubs official website has confirmed.

The midfield lynchpin has been out since injuring his hamstring during Spurs’ crushing 5-0 loss to Liverpool on December 15th.

That injury has forced him to miss the clubs past six matches but he is back now and will be preparing to play for the first time under Tottenham’s new coach Tim Sherwood.

Sherwood told the Spurs website about Sandro’s return to training.

“It’s great to have him back in training and we’ll monitor his progress this week.”

It remains unclear whether he will be in contention for Tottenham’s league fixture against Crystal Palace this weekend but the Brazil midfielder will hope to regain his place in the Spurs team soon and start impressing Brazil manager Luiz Felipe Scolari again.

Whenever the 24-year-old has been fit though he has largely been one of the first names on the Tottenham team sheet. This season he has made 12 Premier League appearances for the club.

His last Seleção appearance came versus Japan in 2012 but that was only a late cameo role. It is imperative that the former Internacional midfielder stays fit to secure a place in Felipão’s final squad for the 2014 World Cup.
