São Paulo goalkeeper Rogério Ceni has returned to training after missing the opening game of the season against Ponte Preta and could feature against Vasco da Gama on Wednesday.

The 40-year-old, who leads the all time list of appearances in Brazil’s top league, was absent from the opening round due to a foot injury sustained in the Paulista final against Corinthians.

The set piece taking ‘keeper was replaced between the posts by back-up stopper Dênis, who managed a clean sheet as São Paulo won the game 2-0.

Despite the possible return of their captain, São Paulo will still be without centre-backs Rafael Toloi, who has a thigh injury, and the suspended Edson Silva, after he picked up two yellow cards.

Paulo Miranda is likely to partner Lúcio in the heart of the defence, with young attacker Roni hoping to feature in the place of Jadson, who will be away on international duty with Brazil.
