Former Barcelona and Brazil national team defender Edmílson claims that he has been offered a role at the Spanish club.

Edmílson met with Barcelona’s director of football Raúl Sanllehí as both were called by Neymar’s staff to follow Neymar as he signed his five year contract with the Catalan club.

He is a representative of Euro Sport, a company that helps players manage their careers.

Edmílson was part of the Brazilian national team squad that won the World Cup in 2002, he retired from football in 2011, after a poor spell at Fortaleza-based club Ceará.

He has since then also been running his Fundação Edmílson (Edmílson Fundation), which helps children and teenages get access to education.

The former defender might return to football as Barcelona have offered him a football academy role.

Edmílson told news site UOL: “I am still studying the offer, there is nothing certain yet.”
