Former Grêmio and São Paulo striker Grafite has extended his contract with Emirati club Al-Ahli for another year.
He joined Al-Ahli in 2011, after a four-year spell at German club Wolfsburg, and he has also previously played in South Korea and France. Grafite was also inBrazil’s 2010 World Cup squad, and played against Portugal in the group stage.
Grafite had previously been linked to Brazilian clubs, such as Palmeiras but he decided to stay in the Middle East, he told press: “I turned down several offers from Brazil, as I preferred to stay at Al-Ahli since I adapted very well.”
“I’m looking forward to the challenge of winning titles with the club, especially because there is a good chance we play the Asian Champions League next season.”
“The contract renewal negotiations didn’t take long, when the president talked to me about the intention to renew my contract, I agreed at once, for many reasons. I’m happy at the club and I like to be part of this team.”
