Julio César picked up an injury during QPR’s 2-1 win over fellow relegation battlers Southampton with Remy on song.

César continued between the sticks as Harry Redknapp looked to mastermind a win against the Saints.

Loic Remy struck early for the Rs as the Frenchman sprung the offside trap and coolly lifted a finish over the advancing keeper.

But Southampton found their stride and equalised just before the break with Gaston Ramirez chipping César after the keeper had parried a Jay Rodriguez effort back into play.

César faced a barrage of shots on his goal with Rodriguez and Puncheon testing the keeper from long range.

The Brazil goalkeeper was in trouble once more as he spilled another shot into Remy’s path but the striker couldn’t take advantage.

That proved to be the last action César took as he was forced to limp off the pitch with a hamstring injury with Robert Green taking his place.

QPR then promptly scored another goal as Jay Bothroyd tapped in from close range after Park Ji-Sung picked him out in the six-yard box.

But Green was called into action to deny Maya Yoshida a late equaliser for Southampton as QPR held on for the win.
