Chelsea’s David Luiz is confident that they can overcome fellow big spenders Manchester City when the two sides meet in the Premier League at the weekend.
The Blues have dropped off the title pace but Luiz believes they can put pressure on the teams above them, starting with City.
“We can put pressure on City,” the Brazilian said. “It is a big, big game. If you beat big clubs you take more confidence so this is the objective.
“I want to win against Man City always. That is my mentality. Chelsea’s mentality is to get three points.”
A win for Chelsea would see them close the gap to their opponents to just one point but they still remain 16 points off league leaders Manchester United.
Rafael Benitezx’s side have had a short time to prepare for Sunday’s match after narrowly earning a route into the last 16 of the Europa League with a 1-1 draw against Sparta Prague on Thursday.
