Brazilian defender Dante was one of Bayern Munich’s leading lights in a 3-1 away victory over Arsenal on Tuesday night, but left the pitch annoyed at the sloppiness of the goal his side conceded.

With Arsenal looking to come back from 2-0 down at half-time, a defensive lapse allowed striker Lukas Podolski to claw a goal back with an unmarked header in front of an empty net.

Although Bayern were later to restore their two-goal cushion, Dante admitted that he was annoyed that his side had made such a mistake at such a crucial time.

“We were angry to concede that, yes. We cannot make these mistakes from a set-piece,” the newly capped Brazil international said.

“It could have been avoided, but these things happen. The most important thing is that we got a good result and played very well. In the Champions League, 3-1 is better than 2-0.”

Regarding Bayern’s hopes in the overall competition, Dante added: “Everybody respects Bayern and everybody knows our strength. If we keep concentration and focus, we can go far.

“We are not getting carried away, though, as we still need to finish the job against Arsenal.”
