Santos have announced that a deal has been struck to bring Cruzeiro midfielder Walter Montillo to the Vila Belmiro in 2013, with midfielder Henrique heading in the other direction.

Montillo, 28, leaves the Belo Horizonte side after three seasons, with Santos purchasing the 60% of his economic rights owned by the club plus an additional 10% owned by investors.

It is reported that, as well as former midfielder Henrique rejoining Cruzeiro, the club will also receive R$15 million (€5.6 million) for their share of his ownership.

“Now we are just settling some terms with the player, but everything is calm. All settled,” vice-president Odílio Rodrigues told the club’s official website.

The announcement ends a transfer rumour that has recurred persistently for the past 12 months, with Cruzeiro finally receiving a suitable fee for the Argentine playmaker.

Montillo is expected to be handed the No. 10 shirt at Santos and becomes the club’s fourth signing for the 2013 season, following the arrivals of defender Neto, as well as midfielders Renê Junior and Pinga.
