Belo Horizonte giants Cruzeiro are hoping to announce the signings of a duo of attacking midfielders in the coming days—with stars of Série B, Lucca (pictured), of Criciúma, and Ricardo Goulart, of Goias, reportedly on the way.

The duo are set to cost the club a combined R$15 million (€5.5 million) to secure, although the club can count upon significant help from investors including Banco BMG.

Club president Gilvan Tavares, though, has confirmed that the club hope to finance at least one of the deals without outside help, having spent the first twelve months of his presidency aiming to solve the side"s financial woes.

"We still haven"t determined how we will sort the payments for the signings of these players," Tavares told Lancenet. "We have the promise of an investor, who is not Victor Hugo [Mesa], to help with these signings. However, we have stabilised the club"s finances and we are looking at ways that Cruzeiro can fund at least one of the players ourselves.

"We have had talks with both players, but we have still not signed the contract. Therefore, I cannot say that they are signed. We"ve made some progress, like medical exams, in order to speed up the signings…Negotiations are well advanced."

The Minas Gerais side have already confirmed the signings of Nilton, Uelliton, Egídio and Diego Souza for the 2013 season and hope to add two more defensive players ahead of the 2013 campaign.
