Corinthians strike Renato Augusto agreement - reports
Brazilian newspaper Lance! report that Corinthians have struck an agreement to bring former Flamengo midfielder Renato Augusto to the club for the 2013 season.
Renato Augusto, 24, has reportedly agreed terms with Corinthians over a return to Brazilian football, while Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly accepted a deal to sell 50% of the player's economic rights to the São Paulo-based side.
The Corinthians' board had initially intended to purchase the entirety of the player's rights, but with such a deal proving impossible, the player's agent, Carlos Leite, came up with the new agreement involving just a percentage of the player's ownership.
Timão officials have, thus far, refused to confirm or deny any deal has been agreed, with the Club World Cup the current priority for the club.
However, Flamengo's new executive director Paulo Pelaipe confirmed that his side would be unable to strike an agreement for the player as he is already set to sign for another Brazilian side.
