Vasco da Gama executive director René Simões confirmed on Thursday that the club have released a high-value offer for defender Dedé.

The club that have made the approach has not been named, but it is believed that Italian giants Juventus are the club who have most closely tracked the defender.

“Dedé always receives offers and Vasco know it takes ‘creativity’ to retain a player of this level of player in Brazil,” René told Gazeta Esportiva, but denied that the club’s financial problems might cause the player’s exit.

“The two issues are not related because Vasco are not the only club that has financial troubles. But, we are not thinking of solving our problems in this way.”

Earlier this year, Vasco extended the contract of the centre-back until the end of 2015, with the intention of retaining their star asset until after the 2014 World Cup at a minimum.

Dedé, who has missed the final weeks of the Brazilian season with a fracture in his left leg, was a regular member of the Brazil national team setup under Mano Menezes and will hope to retain his place under new manager Felipão.
