Agent denies Chelsea negotiation for Atlético Mineiro star Bernard
The agent of Atlético Mineiro star Bernard has moved quickly to deny reports that his client is bound for Premier League giants Chelsea.
The reports, originating from Italian Sky Sports reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, linked Bernard, 20, with a move to join the growing Brazilian contingent at Stamford Bridge.
Agent Adriano Spadotto, though, insists the talk is simply speculation and added that there was no current negotiation taking place.
The reports were likely fuelled by the visit of Atlético Mineiro president Alexandre Kalil to London earlier this month, when he was reported to be sounding out offers for the youngster.
"It's just speculation. The player is in good form. It's normal," Spadotto told Globo Esporte. "Those who will deal with negotiations are [agent] Giuliano Bertolucci and Kalil, but there is nothing at the moment. Just rumour."
Bertolucci, agent of Chelsea trio David Luiz, Oscar and Lucas Piazón, has struck a partnership with Spadotto to handle negotiations with interested European clubs on Bernard's behalf. Globo Esporte report that Bertolucci was not available when contacted.
