Barcelona’s Dani Alves has claimed that the Seville derby between Sevilla and Real Betis is tougher than the El Clasico derby.

The former Sevilla fullback spoke ahead of the Andalucia based derby this weekend, claiming that it is a more demanding fixture for players.

The Seleção star told reporters: “They may not be as important as a Barca-Real in terms of the quality of players, the spectacle on offer, and the media coverage, but they are passionate games. They are tougher than a Clasico.”

Alves’ old club lie in tenth place in La Liga, four points behind their rivals Real Betis who are currently in fourth and challenging for Europe.

Dani Alves played a total of 175 times for Sevilla, scoring 11 goals before signing for Barcelona in 2008.
