Botafogo midfielder Clarence Seedorf has returned to training after recovering from a thigh injury that has kept him out of the last two games, but the Dutch star is not certain to be fit for Saturday’s match against Portuguesa.

Seedorf, 36, has been an inspriational signing for Botafogo since joining earlier this summer. The former AC Milan star has played in 21 of the Rio giants 26 games since he joined, scoring 9 goals.

The attacker, who won four Champions League titles with three different clubs during his time in Europe, has become a key player in a youthful Botafogo side. Something highlighted by teammate Nicolás Lodeiro.

He told Globo Esporte: “He is a very important guy and always want to play, but right now the most important thing is his health. We are very pleased to know that he is recovering and we hope he will play against Portuguesa, but if not, we will pray that he will come back as soon as possible.”
