Manchester United-bound striker Bruno Gomes scored a spectacular volley to set his Desportivo Brasil side on their way to a comfortable 5-1 victory over Ponte Preta.

The acrobatic effort was the 16-year-old forward’s 21st goal of the São Paulo Under-17 state championship, placing him joint-top of the top-scorer charts for the fiercely competitive tournament.

The victory should be enough to see Desportivo comfortably through to the next stage of the championship, as they continue to improve upon their impressive record in youth football competitions.

Bruno is part of the academy side’s Manchester United project, with the English club owning first-option rights to sign the player at any stage.

Although not every player in the project will make it to Old Trafford, Bruno is heavily tipped to join the Red Devils as soon as he turns 18.

The youngster has consistently impressed with his scoring feats, including a starring role for the side in their Milk Cup success in Northern Ireland earlier this year.
